Crunch-Free Core and Ab Exercises

When many think of core exercises, usually, sit-ups and crunches first pop into mind…or any exercise that has us lying on our back (like in the picture above). What some don’t realize is that we can target our abs, core, trunk or whatever you want to call it, with exercises that don’t involve back lying or neck cranking.

I was asked by the folks at (Rodale publishing, same publisher as Men’s Health, Women’s Health, and Runner’s World) to design a core focused workout that doesn’t involve lying on your back. I asked Girl Gone Strong member Molly Galbraith to help out with the workout design and this is what we came up with:
